Garena launched its Garena Professional League (GPL) in the month of May 2012, which is a six-month professional gaming competition that features more than 100 live matches. The inaugural season of the GPL was an internet-based League of Legends tournament with six teams of professional players. They represent the best athletes from their respective countries. GPL matches are recorded and broadcast live on-line with commentary. The games are available for viewers to view on the GPL's official website. Garena Premier League 2013, that began on January 4 2013, will have two new teams, one each coming from Taiwan and Vietnam. This brings the total number of teams to eight. Teams include: AHQ, Saigon Fantastic Five, Bangkok Titans, Kuala Lumpur Hunters, Manila Eagles, Saigon Jokers, Taipei Assassins and Singapore Sentinels. It is the Garena E-Sports Stadium, a venue for esports, was opened in November 2014 in Neihu District of Taipei. The studio was constructed for the League of Legends Masters Series which is the most prestigious LoL Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau league. The tournament was a spin-off from GPL. Garena started the Iron Solari League in January 2015. The Iron Solari League is an League of Legends women's tournament held on the Philippines. It is a monthly event held in the second week of every month. This is a chance to increase participation by communities that are underrepresented and is accessible to all women who identify as such. Garena doesn't just host tournaments but also events that are offline and other events that permit users to connect. Garena organizes the Garena Festival in Singapore, Malaysia and other nations.
