In The Ring Two, Rachel must investigate the background of Samara Morgan when her son becomes sick with an unknown ailment.In The Ring, Rachel Keller as an investigative reporter who is requested by her sister Ruth to investigate the mysterious circumstances that led to Katie's death. Rachel is informed by Ruth, her sister, that she discovered Katie's distorted body inside the closet. She also divulges that Katie died of an attack on her heart. Katie's friends tell Rachel the story of the legend of the cursed tape and Katie's best friend Becca being confined for witnessing Katie dying. Katie's boyfriend as well as her two friends also died in strange accidents the same night , at 10 pm. Rachel journeys from Shelter Mountain Inn to Cabin 12 where Katie along with her companions watched the cursed videotape. Rachel finds the tape and begins to watch it. The phone rings. Rachel hears a voice utter "seven days". Rachel is identified as Noah Clay as a video analyst by her ex-boyfriend. Rachel learns later that Aidan Noah's son watched the tape, as Noah was calling her. He informs Rachel that the tape is believed by Rachel. Rachel studies the lighthouse that was on the tape and discovers that it was situated on Moesko Island, the home of a horse breeder who was ill-fated known as Anna Morgan, who appeared on the videotape with the curse. Rachel uncovers that Anna had an adopted daughter named Samara. Samara was adept at creating horrifying images in the minds of humans, animals as well as objects. Rachel encounters Anna's widower Richard. He makes Rachel leave the scene as when she starts asking questions regarding Samara.
